There is an extraordinary team of people who come together to bring the magical bond and excitement in presenting the annual EWOC Expo and Awards Program. The CEO & Founder of Sacculturalhub.com and Chief Editor of THE HUB Magazine, Pleshette Robertson, is grateful for the tremendous efforts and support received from the EWOC Team, Sac Cultural Hub Media Foundation Board of Directors, and EWOC Advisory Committee. For the past 10 years we have been able to present the EWOC event due to the commitment of these individuals.

Event Director

Pleshette Robertson

Pleshette Robertson is the CEO and Founder of Sacculturalhub.com and the Chief Editor of THE HUB Magazine. The website (launched in March 2002) and magazine (published in February 2006) are leading sources of Black urban media that celebrate the urban lifestyle of African-Americans in the capital region and throughout California serving as the information hub for black-oriented movies, concerts, theatrical performances, art exhibitions, sporting events, festivals and black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs.

She is also the owner of PR & Associates Business Resources Resources (AKA Sacculturalhub.com Media Company) which is an advertisement and public promotions agency specializing in providing multi-media advertising, social media marketing campaigns, e-blast ad/website production and consultation to new business and startup organizations.

She also serves as the Executive Director for the Sac Cultural Hub Media Foundation that educates, empowers, and train young adults and women of color in underserved communities. Several programs under the Sac Cultural Hub Media Foundation include: Exceptional Women of Color Conference; Hub Choice Awards Show; Black Physicians Forum (BPF); BPF Medical Student Scholarship Program; Young Exceptional Women of Color (Y-EWOC) Scholarship Competition, and the Young/Youth Women’s Summit (YWS). For 3 years, Pleshette served as a Covered California Enrollment Counselor and Outreach Educator.

Pleshette has received numerous awards that include: MLK Unsung Hero Award Recipient of the 9th Assembly District presented by the California Legislative Black Caucus in January 2018, Entrepreneur of The Year presented by Calvary Christian Center’s Genesis School of Business & Entrepreneurship in December 2017, Martin Luther King Jr. Difference Maker Award for Service and Advocacy in January 2016, NAWBO OWL Wise Woman (a.k.a. Business Woman of the Year) in October 2015; BWOPA-PAC Ella Hill Hutch Award in November 2013, UC Davis Chancellor’s Achievement Awards For Diversity and Community in the Community Award category in February 2013; Business Award from the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Sacramento Chapter in November 2009; “Women of Excellence” from the Sacramento Kappa Psi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority in March 2008. Pleshette was featured in the August 2007 issue on her personal style and noteworthy achievements in the Sacramento magazine. She holds a B.A. in Business Administration from San Jose State University. Pleshette loves and celebrates her extended family while she is the proud mother of three daughters and also has three grandsons.

Twlia Laster

Twlia Laster is the owner of Twlia Makes It Happen! Consulting Service. Ms. Laster has 20 years of experience in providing consulting services to clients in need of strategic marketing, program development, public relations, event management, health education, and smoking cessation facilitation.

For the past nine years Ms. Laster has served as the Strategic Marketing and Project Director for Sac Cultural Hub Media Company directly engaged in increasing overall company revenue by revamping the marketing model, developing programs, solidifying corporate and community partnerships. Additionally, Ms. Laster is the Project Director of Saving Our Legacy, African Americans for Smoke Free Safe Places – The SOL Project, and serves on several public health advisory committees throughout Northern California.

Program Development Manager

Valarie Scruggs

Valarie Scruggs is the Health Equity Manager at One Community Health where she designs programs to reduce health disparities by educating the public on health insurance and managing overall health. She is also owner of VisionStep, a consultant business focused on program development and grant writing. She has 17 years of experience in program planning, securing funding, and implementing effective public health campaigns. She develops strategic alliances to conduct campaigns that increase knowledge and encourage individuals and communities to take action to reduce their risk for disease. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Ecology from University of California, Irvine with an emphasis in Psychology and Social Behavior. Valarie also serves as Program Development Manager for the Sac Cultural Hub Media Foundation.

Public Relations Consultant

Michael P Coleman

After over 20 years in broadcasting, print media, and public relations, Michael P. Coleman relocated from Detroit in 2010 to write the latest chapter in his career: Coleman Communications. He regularly delivers feature articles to a variety of print and online platforms, including Jet Magazine, EURweb.com, and Uptown Magazine.

Coleman Communications also provides consultation on brand management, event planning & execution, and fund development/sales to corporations and small businesses. Coleman has earned a Bachelor of Arts with High Honors and Distinction in Communication from the University of Michigan, and he’s working on achieving fluency in Spanish.

Neketia Henry

Actress Neketia Henry has appeared in numerous film projects and counties commercials and print ads, including Essence Magazine, Microsoft, and Bank of America just to name a few. In addition to being a radio personality, she has also hosted several red carpet events, including the BET Awards. Neketia’s television experience and witty personality recently landed her a position with Hearst Television Corporation as a News Reporter for KCRA 3 and a Promotions Team Ambassador for KQCA My58. She truly believes that to whom much is given, much is required and stries to illustrate the importance of never compromising your integrity to get ahead.

Lesley Leatherwood

Lesley Leatherwood is the CEO of Leatherwood Marketing. She specializes in National internet marketing and print advertising. She possesses over 25 years of corporate & marketing experience, including inside and outside sales, hospitality, public relations, media buying, production assistant in television and four feature films. She is an expert in consulting on promotions, advertising, telemarketing products, events and photography. Lesley is originally from Cardiff Wales, England. Lesley has been with Sac Cultural Hub Media Company since 2008 and serves as the Community Advertising Manager.

Vicki Blakley

Vicki Blakely holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Administration/Management where she worked for various hospitals and clinics throughout Southern and Northern California as a Regional Manager. Vicki is currently studying for her Real Estate License. She also owns “Cheake Enterprises” a family company that specializes in Real Estate Investments and Wireless products. Vicki also serves on the Board of Black Wealth Matters as the Board Secretary and on the Hospitality Committee for the Sac Realtist. Vicki joined the staff of Sac Cultural Hub in the Fall of 2009 and is the Administrative Manager working on special grant projects and activities.

Keadrian Belcher Harris

Keadrian Belcher Harris is the founder of the first social organization for ladies 7-18, C.L.A.S.S.Y.-Captivating Ladies acquiring Successful Standards which is an organization that strives to improve the self esteem of ladies by way of community involvement and educational workshops. Keadrian has been a staff member of the Sacculturalhub.com Media Company since 2004. She is also noteworthy for her fundraising efforts, advocacy to Strides against Breast Cancer, WEAVE and a host of local youth advocacy efforts. Keadrian has a ten year background as a Programming Systems Analyst and a three year background with Fortune 500 Company, VSP. Keadrian is a happily married mother of five who also works full time for the State of California.

News Media Writer Consultant

Donna Michele Ramos

Donna Ramos writes several (contemporary and historical) multi-cultural, romance novels simultaneously. Her journalism career as a Senior Staff Writer/Reporter for THE HUB Magazine has yielded interviews with Maxwell, Venus and Serena Williams and HRH Sarah Ferguson Duchess of York, to name a few. As a self-published author, Ramos received acclaim from Essence Magazine and BlackbookPlus.com by being on their best seller lists for her contemporary romance debut book “HIGH RISE”. Currently she is writing, “M&M: MADNESS AND MAYHEM”, the final book in her “HIGH RISE” Trilogy, and “CHOCOLATE IN THE CITY”.

Donna partnered with another author, Brooklen Borne to write a 4-book sci-fi thriller series, “Absorption.” Last year she was named “Author of the Year” by Write-On! Awards for Literary Excellence. She states her next project is to “teach myself how to screen write so I can turn my novels into screenplays and submit them to studios and agents searching for fresh new scripts.”

Sheila Bennett

A Silicon Valley native, Sheila has an extensive background in real estate, information technology and has worked in senior management as Information Technology Manager and Software Sales Engineer for over 15 years. As former CFO of Catalyst Real Estate, she was a key contributor to enterprise-level sales strategies, technology planning and decision-making. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and also holds several professional licenses and certifications including: Licensed Insurance Agent, Licensed Mortgage Loan Officer, and Licensed Real Estate Professional.

Sheila is the newly elected 2018 President of the Sacramento REALTIST Association. She has also served as Director of Economic Development for the Black Economic Council, 1st and 2nd Vice President for the Sacramento REALTIST Association, and is an active member on several local and National boards which advocate for the underserved.

In the Spring of 2016, Sheila co-authored and published her third book, “O.N.E.: The Modern Blueprint for Successful Women”. She is a consummate strategist who sees opportunities for growth and harnesses the commitment necessary to move ideas forward. William Jahmal Miller

Wm. Jahmal Miller is the Director of Corporate Reputation & Thought Leadership with San Francisco-based Blue Shield of California’s External Affairs Division. He plays a major role in leading, creating and executing cutting-edge communication and engagement strategies and is charged with positioning the Blue Shield as a leader on health reform, achieving business goals and advancing the organization’s mission to make healthcare accessible and affordable to all Californians.

Miller is recognized as a national thought leader and leading spokesperson on issues pertaining to public policy, health equity, public & mental health, external affairs, social justice, innovation, branding and strategic communications. Michael Blair has been a California resident for over 20 years. He graduated from California State University Sacramento with a double Bachelors Degree in Human Resources Management and Insurance Management. He’s worked for healthcare and information technology fortune
500 companies in employment relations and as a corporate recruiter. As a current business owner, Michael specializes in mass communication marketing and advertising services nationwide for media agency, The Gospel Vine.

Victor Irving Jenkins

Victor Irving Jenkins has been talking for most of his life and in fact was known by members of his family as “mouth almighty.” He, along with his business partner, Jo Grace, founded Crave the Spotlight in 2011 which allowed him more than ample opportunity to use his skills to market coaches, speakers and trainers. He recently partnered with businesscoach.com and is now a business coach in his own right. Throughout most of his adult years he has been a Toastmaster and now finds himself a DTM, a distinction enjoyed by only 5% of Toastmasters.

Dianna L. Lovelace

Dianna L. Lovelace (aka Lady Di) resides in California with her husband Bishop ParnellM. Lovelace Jr., son, and niece. Lady Di is an innovative, motivational speaker. She is the CEO of the First Ladies Academy of Sacramento, a cultivation and developmental ministry for
senior pastors’ wives. As a speaker and teacher, her approach is to be honest, vulnerable, and transparent with her audience. Her passion is to see people make a conscious effort to change from brokenness to wholeness, through the Word of God. She inspires and challenges individuals to first look inward and then upwards for God’s direction.

Bonnie Osborn

Bonnie Osborn is owner of independent public relations firm WriteAway Communications Services, specializing in online marketing and editorial content. She recently finished her second term as president of the Sacramento Rainbow Chamber of Commerce. A communications professional and writer with more than 18 years of experience, Bonnie was a business reporter for newspapers in Missouri and Southern California.

She served for three years as communications director for the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center before founding her company in 2004. Bonnie resides with her life partner of 18 years in northern Sacramento County, where the two were legally married in October 2008. Radio director and personality

Lee Perkins has directed a variety of radio stations and formats, including R&B, soul, smooth jazz and gospel. Most recently Perkins created “The Lee and Christina Morning Show,” followed by “The Lee and Andrea Morning Show,” for V101.1 FM in Sacramento, helping the station receive a top 5 rating. Perkins is a graduate of the Don Martin School of Radio & Television Arts & Sciences in Hollywood.

Brenda Vinson-Bufford

Brenda Vinson-Bufford is an experienced manager in financial and retirement planning and human services. As Chief of the California Partnership for Long-Term Care, a program supported by the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), she has management oversight of this important program which educates Californians on successfully addressing issues of long-term care. As Executive Director of State of BEing, Incorporated, a nonprofit organization, she oversees the employment and/or entrepreneurial skills training programs that empowers young adults and low-income women to achieve economic security through education, opportunity and ownership. Her expertise has resulted in her being featured in news articles, radio programs and television shows.

Tommie Whitlowe

Tommie Whitlowe is a member of Calvary Christian Center, Sacramento Valley Section of the National Council of Negro Women, Inc., Chair of the Children of Promise Workshop & Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Tommie encourages you to become a member of the National Council of Negro Women, Inc. and work with the Sacramento Valley Section.
